The spots I actually recommend when clients ask where to eat and what to do. A personal, just-favorite places list across Bucks County.
When someone is thinking about moving to Bucks County, one of the first things they ask me is where to eat and what to do. So here is the list I actually send people. These are personal favorites and places I have come to rely on, not a ranked or exhaustive guide. Towns and businesses change, so always check current hours before you go.
Newtown
Start on State Street. There are long-standing local restaurants, a classic ice cream shop, and the Newtown Theatre for a movie the way movies used to feel. It is the kind of downtown where you can spend an afternoon without a plan and have a good time.
New Hope
New Hope is where I send people who want a memorable evening. The dining scene runs from casual riverside spots to more elevated kitchens, and the galleries and shops make it easy to fill a day. The New Hope Railroad is a favorite for visitors and a fun way to see the countryside.
If a client has one free day and wants the full Bucks County experience, I send them to New Hope and Lambertville and tell them to walk the bridge.
Doylestown
Doylestown's downtown is packed with options, and the Mercer Museum and Fonthill Castle are worth a visit even if you never buy a home here. It is a great town to wander, with coffee shops, restaurants, and a real sense of place.
Outdoors and the towpath
- Walk or bike the Delaware Canal towpath, which connects several towns
- Explore the parks and green spaces scattered through the county
- Take a scenic drive through the countryside in any season, autumn especially
- Visit the river towns and cross the bridges to neighboring communities
A note on this list
This is a living list. I add to it as I find new spots, and I will keep updating it here. If you are considering a move and want to spend a day getting to know a town before you decide, reach out and I will help you plan a route that shows you the real place, not just the highlights.
Have questions about buying or selling in Bucks County? I would love to help.
